Kentmere Analog BW film range Canada

As part of its commitment to supporting analog photography even in today’s digital age, photo-imaging company HARMAN Technology Limited is to offer a number of additional films to the Canadian market. In a move that strengthens its partnership with Canada’s leading distributor of photographic supplies, the British-based manufacturer has confirmed it will soon sell a number of completely new KENTMERE PHOTOGRAPHIC films through AMPLIS FOTO. With a 20-year track record of meeting the needs of advanced amateurs, professional photographers, videographers and the motion picture and television industry, Amplis Foto already carries products from Harman’s two other brands – the Ilford black and white range and the Harman Photo range of professional quality, inkjet media. It has also stocked Kentmere Photographic products since 2006, a year before Harman Technology acquired the brand. The films, which will be available from Amplis this month, are a brand new 100 and 400 ASA 35mm films both offered in 24 exp, 36 exp and 100' bulk rolls. These new products will complement the existing Kentmere Photographic range carried by Amplis, which includes: VC Select, Fineprint VC, Bromide papers. All these products can be processed using Ilford chemicals and enjoy particular popularity in the photo-education market due to their consistent quality and competitive prices. The decision by Harman to sell the new films in the Canadian market also ties to the manufacturer’s original plans for the Kentmere brand. After acquiring Kentmere in 2007, it was always Harman’s intention to use its greater size and infrastructure to benefit this new addition to its business. As such, it has already used its expertise and advanced manufacturing technology to increase batch-to-batch consistency of the Kentmere Photographic range. This latest development will contribute to improved worldwide product availability. Harman CrystalJet RC Photo Paper

January 2009 will see HARMAN PHOTO - the digital media brand of Harman technology Limited - launch a new addition to its range of high-quality inkjet papers : HARMAN CRYSTALJET RC

Speaking of the new product, Howard Hopwood, Harman's Chairman, said: "Harman technology was born out of the black and white side of Ilford, one of the world's best known photo-imaging companies, in 2005 and not long afterwards we launched our own inkjet range. This range makes full use of the expertise acquired producing analogue photography products for over 125 years and even uses the same fiber base and baryta layer as our premium darkroom papers such as ILFORD MULTIGRADE IV FB Fiber."

Like the other papers offered under the Harman Photo banner, Harman Crystaljet RC is ideal for monochrome prints and offers deep blacks as well as superb levels of detail, even in shadowed areas. However, unlike the other HarmanPhoto products, it is a resin coated rather than fiber based paper. It's this feature which allows it to carry a lower price.

With a 260gsm weight, Harman Crystaljet is compatible with the latest pigmented and dye based printers and benefits from instant dry properties. It is also available in a luster or gloss finish and in sizes of Letter, Ledger (B), Super B and A2+.

To help customers get the very best results from the new paper, Harman has even created special profiles detailing optimum settings for most common brands of printer and made these available on the Harman Photo website www.harman-inkjet.com

To mark the launch of Harman Crystaljet RC, the manufacturer will be offering the new paper in special value packs of 25 sheets + 5 sheets free whilst supplies last.

Ilford Film Developper Ilfosol 3

HARMAN has announced plans to extend its popular range of ILFORD PHOTO black and white photochemistry products with a new developer. ILFOSOL 3 is due for official launch in February 2008 and is an enhanced formulation of the one-shot, general-purpose, liquid black and white film developer - ILFOSOL S.

The new developer is particularly suited for use with medium and slow speed films such as PAN F PLUS, FP4 PLUS and DELTA 100 PROFESSIONAL where it ensures a fine grain and optimal sharpness at full film speed. It is supplied as a concentrate in economical 500ml bottles and is diluted (typically at a ratio of 1:9) for one-shot use. However, for greater economy, ILFOSOL 3 can also be used with many films at a higher dilution of 1:14 with only a small trade off in image quality.

The introduction of ILFOSOL 3 is the latest in a long line of product launches by ILFORD PHOTO. Since the company was formed in 2005 out of the black and white side of the ILFORD business created by Alfred Harman in 1879, ILFORD PHOTO has reintroduced such well-respected photochemistry products as ID-11, Microphen and Perceptol powder film developers, and the ILFOTEC HC and ILFOTEC LC29 concentrated liquid film developers. At the same time, it has also developed a number of totally new products, including ILFORD Washaid, the ideal means of washing all fibre based papers and ILFORD HARMAN WARMTONE DEVELOPER.
