The 33rd edition of Outsider Art Fair (OAF), the premier fair dedicated to Self-Taught Art, art brut, and Outsider Art, features 66 exhibitors from 40 cities in 9 countries at the Metropolitan Pavilion.

Visitors to the fair can expect to see art by acknowledged masters such as Henry Darger (1892–1973), William Edmondson (1874–1951), Augustin Lesage (1876–1954), Judith Scott (1943-2005), and Bill Traylor (1854-1949), as well as works by living artists such as Noviadi Angkasapura, JJ Cromer, Shuvinai Ashoona, M’onma, Julian Martin, Margot, Dan Miller and Leopold Strobl.

OAF 2025 welcomes back renowned dealers like Fleisher/Ollman Gallery (Philadelphia), which will be devoting its entire presentation to works from the estate of long-time American Folk Art Museum board member Audrey B. Heckler. It will include examples by James Castle (1899-1977), Sam Doyle (1906-1985), Howard Finster (1916-2001), Martín Ramírez (1895-1963), and Bill Traylor. Ricco/Maresca Gallery (New York) will present works from the collection of advertising pioneer Robert M. Greenberg. Built over more than 40 years, this collection holds superb works by Darger, Traylor, and Adolf Wölfli (1864-1930), among others. Aarne Anton/Nexus Singularity (New York), Cavin-Morris Gallery (New York), Marion Harris (Connecticut and New York), all of whom have exhibited with OAF since its founding, make their returns, and after a five-year hiatus, original exhibitor Henry Boxer (London) will also be on hand.

Outsider Art Fair 2005's Curated Space, Follow My Moves, will be an exhibit of Self-Taught art from Brazil, curated by São Paulo-based Mateus Nunes, and will feature works by renowned artists such as Amadeo Luciano Lorenzato (1900–1995), Chico da Silva (1910–1985), Conceição dos Bugres (1914-1984), and Maria Lira Marques (b. 1945).

Other booth highlights include paintings by Maurice Sullins (1910–1995) at Hana Pietri (Chicago), paintings by manga artist Takashi Nemoto at Akio Nagasawa Gallery (Tokyo), and works from Canadian Arctic and by other contemporary Inuit artists at Feheley Fine Arts (Toronto). Zürcher Gallery will feature a solo show of drawings by American poet Ted Joans (1928-2003) and James Barron will exhibit the work of Janet Sobel (1893–1968), whose abstract paintings were championed by Peggy Guggenheim in the 1940s and were recently featured in a solo exhibition at Houston’s Menil Collection.

For over 60 years, the  Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) has supported the US' leading fine art galleries, allowing them to focus on the economic and cultural contributions they offer their communities and the world at large. Today, the organization includes over 200 diverse member galleries from nearly 40 U.S. cities. These galleries represent hundreds of established and emerging artists internationally. As the only fair with a rigorous peer review process where all booth proposals are vetted by the ADAA member galleries that have applied, the resulting standard of connoisseurship has become synonymous with The Art Show.

THE ART SHOW 2024 SOLO EXHIBITIONS

This year, 43 solo presentations at the fair promote in-depth study and focused critical attention on a wide array of artists, spanning iconic art historical figures and an intergenerational range of voices in contemporary art, with a particular focus on women artists. They include:

• A new suite of carefully rendered oil on canvas paintings depicting imagined interiors by Quentin James McCaffrey, in a focused presentation by Nicelle Beauchene Gallery.

• Never-before-seen works by Alison Elizabeth Taylor that transform the historic technique of wood inlay into marquetry hybrid and collage pieces, presented by James Cohan.

• Derek Eller Gallery’s presentation of new paintings by Clare Grill, who allows natural occurrences like daylight and shadow to dictate the forms of her emotive abstractions

• Works by Croatian conceptual artist Mladen Stilinović (1947-2016) exploring money and its relationship to labor, the body, and art, presented by Peter Freeman, Inc.

• Lucy Mackenzie’s timeless still life oil paintings of everyday objects isolated in space, presented by Nancy Hoffman Gallery.

• A showcase by Hosfelt Gallery of Tim Hawkinson’s turn to painting via twelve tiny, hyperreal oils painted from family photos that explore the body, aging, and our shared humanity.

• Susan Inglett Gallery’s presentation of a series of large-scale abstract paintings by Martha Jackson Jarvis that depict her family member’s journey as a free Black soldier during the American Revolution.

• Kasmin’s presentation of rarely and never-before-exhibited photographic works by Tina Barney that span five decades of the artist’s investigation of the theme of family.

• New works by Suchitra Mattai that combine bas-relief sculpture with traditionally feminine practices such as weaving, embroidery, and adornment, presented by Roberts Projects.

• Tina Kim Gallery’s showcase of works by the renowned fiber and textile artist Lee ShinJa, highlighting the beginning of the artist’s experiments with metal elements in her abstracted natural landscapes.

• New silk collages by Billie Zangewa that weave personal narratives and broader social critique in Lehmann Maupin’s booth.

• Anthony Meier’s presentation of Jessie Henson’s “Monument” series: cast-bronze and gilded sculptures of found embroideries.

• New ink on cotton paper monoprints created by Chase Hall with the use of a newly developed pigment incorporating coffee grounds, presented by Pace Prints.

• A presentation by Petzel of 93-year old artist Isabella Ducrot’s newly created “Flowerpot” textile works that combine sensuality, repetition, and the everyday to create compositions of flowers and plants situated within decorative borders and framing devices.

• Sicardi | Ayers | Bacino’s presentation of eight works from “Mnemosyne’s Whisper,” Cuban artist Reynier Leyva Novo’s ongoing series investigating memory and protest.

• New paintings by Seth Becker alongside a suite of “Real Photo Postcards” from the artist’s collection at Venus Over Manhattan’s booth.

THE ART SHOW 2024 TWO-PERSON & GROUP EXHIBITIONS

The two-person and group presentations at The Art Show 2024 examine a diverse range of art historical moments and themes, with a preponderance of exhibitors emphasizing cross-cultural dialogues, mentorship and legacy, intergenerational dialogue among women artists, and artists’ social relationships. Highlights from these multiartist booths include:

• Castelli Gallery’s presentation which examines the connections and cross-cultural dialogue between Japanese conceptual artist Arakawa (1936-2010) and American sculptor Robert Morris (1931-2018), who met in the early 1960s during their overlapping time residing in artist Yoko Ono’s downtown New York City loft.

• A presentation by Luxembourg + Co. exploring the work of Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988) and Katsumi Nakai (1927-2013), two innovators in the field of sculpture who shared an aspiration to translate Japanese craft traditions into a new geographic context.

• George Adams Gallery’s presents a survey of two expansive and idiosyncratic artists newly represented by the gallery, featuring the expressive figurative artwork of M. Louise Stanley and sculptural works by Elisa D’Arrigo.

• Reassessing notions of identity, society, and culture, a two-person presentation by Peter Blum Gallery featuring new semi-figurative paintings by Luisa Rabbia and recent glass and bead sculptures by Joyce J. Scott.

• A presentation by Altman Siegel highlighting Adaline Kent (1900-1957) and Ruth Laskey, two female artists from different generations living and working in the Bay Area.

• Nazarian / Curcio’s presentation of paintings by Annie Lapin and sculptures by Fay Ray, two artists who draw from art history and the natural world to explore our sense of mystery, grandeur, and the sublime.

• A presentation by Sapar Contemporary titled Mathematics, Particle Physics and Gravity in the Works of Pioneering Women Artists of 1970s, featuring works on paper, folded paper constructions, and knotted monofilament sculptures made by Bilge Friedlaender (1934-2000), Benigna Chilla, and Yvonne Pacanovsky Bobrowicz (1928-2022).

• A group exhibition by Paulson Fontaine Press featuring a new print series by Charles Gaines, alongside editions by the artist and educator’s former students: Edgar Arceneaux, Gary Simmons, and Henry Taylor.

• A two-person showcase by Hales Gallery that presents paintings by two generations of Indigenous artists—Kay WalkingStick and Jordan Ann Craig—who engage with their ancestral culture.

• McClain Gallery’s presentation of artists hailing from Houston, Texas, featuring paintings by Dorothy Hood and Delita Martin’s print-focused collages.

• A dual artist presentation by Michael Werner Gallery of figurative cast stone sculptures by German artist Wilhelm Lehmbruck (1881-1919) and abstract paintings by French artist Eugène Leroy (1910-2000).

THE ART SHOW 2024 "SPOTLIGHT ON... HOUSTON"

Launching this year, a new annual initiative titled “Spotlight On…” will feature a different city every year with a robust cohort of ADAA member galleries. This year’s focus will be the vibrant arts community of Houston, Texas. “Spotlight On…Houston” serves as a platform for an in-depth exploration of the city’s distinctive art scene, bringing its foremost artists, curators, museum directors, dealers, cultural advocates, and collectors together to highlight the innovative work taking place in its institutions, alternative art spaces, and galleries.

The “Spotlight On… Houston” panel discussion series offers insightful examinations of the city’s visionary arts programs and their impact on the surrounding community, and includes a conversation with Houston institutional leaders, John Guess, Jr. (Chief Executive Officer, Houston Museum of African American Culture), Hesse McGraw (Executive Director, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston), Alison Weaver (Founding Executive Director, Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University), and Michelle White (Senior Curator, The Menil Collection) on creating sustainable futures within an evolving art world landscape, moderated by Julia Halperin (Co-Founder, Burns Halperin Report); a roundtable exploration on the importance of supporting artists directly via alternative art spaces with Paola Creixell (Founder, PAC Art Residency), Xandra Eden (Executive Director, DiverseWorks), Pete Gershon (Curator of Programs, Orange Show Center for Visionary Art), and Danielle Burns Wilson (Executive Director/Art Director, Project Row Houses), facilitated by Ali RosaSalas (Vice President of Visual and Performing Arts, Abrons Arts Center/Henry Street Settlement); and a convening of storied Houston collectors Leah Bennett, Judy Nyquist, and Leigh Smith in a discussion on the evolution of fine arts philanthropy in the region, led by Sarah Douglas (Editor-in-Chief, ARTnews).

ADAA worked with Texas-based filmmakers, Walley Films, to create a short documentary that will premiere at the fair. It will feature Houston ADAA members—Inman Gallery, McClain Gallery, Josh Pazda Hiram Butler, Sicardi | Ayers | Bacino, and Texas Gallery—and further enrich the initiative’s exploration of Houston and its environs.

Outsider Art Fair, the only fair dedicated to self-taught art, art brut and outsider art announced details for its 31st edition, taking place at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan and featuring 64 exhibitors from 28 cities in 8 countries, with 12 first-time exhibitors.

Since 1993, the Outsider Art Fair has championed self-taught artists from around the world. Returning dealers who have been with OAF since its inception include Aarne Anton / Nexus Singularity (New York), Cavin-Morris Gallery (New York), Fleisher/Ollman Gallery (Philadelphia), Carl Hammer Gallery (Chicago), Marion Harris (New York), and Ricco/Maresca Gallery (New York). Visitors can once again count on seeing works by the most acclaimed artists in the field, like Morton Bartlett, James Castle, Henry Darger, Thornton Dial, William Edmondson, Minnie Evans, Guo Fengyi, Bill Traylor, Martín Ramírez, Nellie Mae Rowe, Judith Scott, George Widener, and Joseph Yoakum. The fair has a longstanding history of working with the world’s top ateliers or “workshops” that serve artists with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities, including Arts of Life/Circle Contemporary (Chicago), ArTech Collective (The Bronx, NY), Creative Growth Art Center (Oakland), LAND Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), Project Onward (Chicago), Pure Vision Arts (New York), and SAGE Studio (Austin).

Among this year’s fair highlights, Donald Ellis will present an early group of graphite and coloured pencil drawings by Inuit artist Parr (1893-1969), celebrated today for his unadulterated depictions of the hunt, animals and the human figure. First time exhibitor Feheley Fine Arts (Toronto) will also feature works by Inuit artists. SHRINE (New York) will showcase the work of Mary T. Smith (1904-1995) and David Butler (1898-1997), two exemplary figures in the Southern tradition of "yard shows," where Black artists decorated their properties to convey messages that could not be openly voiced; and first-time exhibitor Valley House (Dallas, TX), who will present a mini-retrospective of Texas self-taught artist Valton Tyler (1944-2017). 

For this year’s OAF Curated Space, the fair has joined forces with Grammy Award-winning music producer and supervisor, Randall Poster, who has co-founded The Birdsong Project, a collaboration with some of the world’s most respected musicians, artists, poets, and actors, to support The National Audubon Society. Poster and fair owner Andrew Edlin, who have been friends since childhood, will co-curate an exhibition, We Are Birds, featuring dozens of works inspired by birdlife made by self-taught and contemporary artists, including Greg Burak, Minnie Evans, Tony Fitzpatrick, William Hawkins, Chris Johanson, Pam Lins, Eleanor Ray, Fred Tomaselli, and Bill Traylor. The project recently released For The Birds, an art-filled, 20-LP box set containing over 200 tracks of original music and bird-related poetry by composers and performers including Yoko Ono and Anohni, Elvis Costello, Laurie Anderson, Yo-Yo Ma, Beck, and Kamasi Washington, with avian-themed verse written by poets and read by actors and artists including Tilda Swinton and Robert Pattinson. Recently, The Birdsong Project presented an exhibition at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden that featured over 30 bird houses designed by a range of notable artists, architects, and designers, such as Tom Sachs, Nina Cooke John, Misha Kahn, and Suchi Reddy.

Another highlight of this year’s fair is a special presentation of The Life and Death of Elvis Presley: A Suite by visionary American artist and architect Paul Laffoley. The series of eight complex paintings, completed in 1995, represents the artist’s interpretation of the distinct phases in the life of Elvis Presley.

Newly appointed fair director Sofía Lanusse remarked, “I’m excited to build upon the creative momentum generated by the fair and keep challenging the boundaries of the field, which OAF has become celebrated for.”

The fifth annual edition of FOG Design+Art will take place January 11–14, 2018 at Fort Mason Center, in San Francisco, with a Preview Gala on Wednesday, January 10 to benefit the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). The fair brings together 45 leading international design and visual art galleries for an intimate, highly curated selection of exhibitions that celebrate San Francisco’s long history as a hub for design, art, experimentation, and innovation. The fair will include a robust calendar of programs, including conversations between art and design luminaries and leaders in the field of arts and culture.

The fair’s 45 participants were selected from more than 95 proposals. In addition to welcoming back many galleries to the fair for their fifth year, including Anthony Meier Fine Arts, Berggruen Gallery, Crown Point Press, Fraenkel Gallery, Friedman Benda, and Jessica Silverman Gallery, FOG Design+Art will feature a number of galleries participating for the first time this year, including Galerie Chantal Crousel, Galerie Chastel Maréchal, Luhring Augustine, Nicholas Kilner, Paul Kasmin, Sadie Coles, and Stuart Shave/Modern Art. The fair will feature an international roster of galleries from Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, New York, and Paris, among others.

“We are thrilled with the caliber of galleries participating this year,” said steering committee member Susan Swig. “Now in our fifth year, it’s incredible to look back and see how much the fair has grown. We were overwhelmed by the quality of this year’s proposals, and the thoughtful approach that these galleries took in thinking about an exhibition that responds both to the nature of this location and to the cross section of art and design that we are celebrating.”

FOG has become a focal point for the design and arts communities on the West Coast, and celebrates the pioneering spirit and community-minded nature of the Bay Area. FOG’s mission is to create a platform for the public, curators, collectors, and art world leaders to experience remarkable works of design and visual art by bringing together the pre-eminent dealers of 20th century and contemporary work.

Building on FOG’s longstanding commitment to cultural institutions, the Preview Gala, Innovators Luncheon, and ArtBites support SFMOMA’s exhibitions and education programs, as well as the FOG Forum, which specifically raises funds for the museum’s Architecture and Design department. FOG represents a key moment in which the local and global community congregates to engage in critical dialogue, artistic exchanges, and a shared passion for creative pursuits. This year’s fair is dedicated to the late Cathy Topham, a founding member of the FOG Steering Committee and longstanding SFMOMA supporter.

The Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) announces the exhibitors for The Art Show, the US’s most respected and longest-running art fair, which celebrates its 30th year in 2018. Held annually in New York at the Park Avenue Armory, the 2018 edition will take place February 28 through March 4, 2018, with a Gala Preview on February 27, to benefit Henry Street Settlement – marking the ADAA’s thirty-year partnership with both the venerable community organization and the city’s foremost performing arts venue. Organized by the ADAA, a nonprofit membership organization of art dealers across the US, The Art Show offers collectors, art professionals, and the public the opportunity to engage with artworks of the highest quality through thoughtfully curated presentations that encourage close looking and active conversation with the nation’s leading art gallerists.

Each year, ADAA members wishing to participate submit proposals that outline inventive curatorial concepts for single artist, dual, or group exhibitions—a process which ensures the highest standard of artistic quality and connoisseurship that has distinguished the fair for 30 years. ADAA’s Art Show Committee selected 72 proposals from member galleries that represent the breadth and depth of the Association’s art and scholarly expertise, providing audiences with a diverse range of works from the pre-Columbian period through today, by artists of a variety of genres, practices, and national and international origin. The 2018 fair will include several first-time exhibitors, including Maccarone, Jonathan Boos, Altman Siegel, Chambers Fine Art, Sicardi Gallery, and Danziger Gallery, and longtime ADAA members who are newly returning to the fair, including Anton Kern Gallery, Anglim Gilbert Gallery, Lawrence Markey, and Miles McEnery Gallery.

“We are proud to celebrate the 30th year of The Art Show in 2018, which is a testament to the thriving group of member galleries comprising the ADAA and to the lasting relationships of our members not just with artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts, but with the entire cultural community,” said Adam Sheffer, ADAA President and Cheim & Read Partner and Sales Director. “In these three decades, The Art Show has served as an anchor of the New York cultural calendar, offering visitors a unique fair experience that encourages engagement with high quality works of art and with the foremost galleries in the country. We are thrilled to continue to offer our member galleries a chance to extend their programs beyond the gallery walls and to engage the public with the incredible range of perspectives they represent.”

For the 2018 edition, a number of ADAA members will offer thoughtful solo exhibitions highlighting artists throughout history and from around the world, including several presentations of new or never-before-seen works. New photographs by Catherine Opie will be presented by Lehmann Maupin, and a range of new works on paper by Nicole Eisenman will be presented by Anton Kern Gallery. Tanya Bonakdar Gallery will also exhibit new works on paper, alongside new sculptures and hanging installations by interdisciplinary Argentinian artist Tomás Saraceno. The San Francisco gallery Altman Siegel will present new abstract paintings by local San Francisco artist, Liam Everett, and never-before-seen watercolors by Milton Avery will be on view from Yares Art, alongside major paintings by the influential artist.

A number of members will present an extensive variety of works on paper, including drawing, paintings, and watercolors, such as Salon 94’s presentation of historic works on paper by Sudanese surrealist artist Ibrahim El-Salahi. A presentation by Leslie Tonkonow Artworks + Projects of new works by American painter and printmaker Amy Cutler will also be on view, as well as significant works on paper by notable Op art exponent Bridget Riley, exhibited by David Zwirner. Washburn Gallery will offer a selection of recently rediscovered landscapes and tree studies by abstract painter Myron Stout, and Chambers Fine Art will exhibit recent abstract ink paintings on rice paper by noted Chinese artist and calligrapher Wang Dongling, alongside mixed-media paintings by Yan Shanchun.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, PULSE Contemporary Art Fair returns for its New York edition from March 5 – 8, 2015 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea. PULSE New York will continue the momentum established during its successful Miami Beach edition, which realized major sales and acclaim at the fair’s airy new mid-Miami Beach location. PULSE New York will present a tightly-curated selection of exhibitors showing work by more than 100 international artists, over 80% of exhibitors at the fair will present three artists or less, and a third will showcase two artists in conversation. As one of the longest-running contemporary art fairs in New York, PULSE offers visitors a welcoming environment in which to explore and discover the most compelling contemporary art produced today.

PLAY, the fair’s showcase for video and new media, will be curated by Billy Zhao, a dynamic young curator from the Marina Ambramovic Institute (MAI). PERSPECTIVES is the fair’s series of in-depth conversations between prominent art world insiders, exploring ideas within contemporary art and the art market. On Saturday, March 7 the fair will host 10 x 10, a special curator-focused roundtable, featuring ten curators who will each have ten minutes to answer questions related to “The Future”, which is the overarching theme of this New York edition.

PROJECTS will feature a large site-specific entryway installation by Rachel Mica Weiss presented by Uprise Art, monumental sculptures by Aaron Stephans and Lauren Fensterstock presented by Sienna Patti, paintings by emerging London-based artist Danny Rolph presented by 523 Gallery Thomas Jaeckel, and a video sculpture by Jonathan Calm, presented by LMAKprojects. Inaugural Downtown Miami First Fridays Art Walk 2013

The inaugural Downtown Miami “First Fridays” Art Walk on Friday will take place on April 5th from 6-10pm. This new cultural initiative shines a light on the growing art community and collector market in Downtown Miami, bringing together non-profit arts organizations and local galleries for special exhibitions, artists open studios, tours, exclusive openings, artist performances and an international contemporary art fair, MIA Encore, aboard SeaFair at Bayfront. The Art Walk will be held the first Friday of every month January-June and October-December. The September Art Walk will be held in conjunction with DWNTWN Art Days, September 20-22, 2013. The “First Fridays” Art Walk is organised by the International Fine Art Expositions (IFAE), founders of Art Miami (1991) and organizers of the Miami International Art Fair (MIA), in collaboration with the arts and culture community of Downtown Miami.

 Downtown Miami First Fridays Art Walk Map

The “First Friday” Art Walk coincides with the debut of the MIA Encore fair, April 5th-7th, a new series of fairs launched by IFAE this spring following MIA fair in January. Each MIA Encore show will gather a carefully selected array of 28 international dealers presenting both established contemporary and emerging artists. Works will be composed of contemporary, cutting-edge art of all media including photography, painting, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, installation and video. Admission to MIA Encore will be complimentary for the duration of First Friday hours from 6-10pm.

The mission behind ARMORY FOCUS is to shed light on a dynamic arts community. After Berlin (2010) and Latin America (2011) the third edition of Armory Focus will turn its attention to The Nordic Countries. The invitation-only component of The Armory Show, Armory Focus: The Nordic Countries, will feature select galleries from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland.

Armory Focus: The Nordic Countries will continue The Armory Show’s mission to provide an annual platform for an under recognized yet thriving arts communities at one of the most important gathering of artists, dealers and collectors in the world, The Armory Show. In recognition of the region’s increasing importance on the global art scene and its vital presence in New York City, Armory Focus: The Nordic Countries will offer a select group of galleries an opportunity to showcase their innovative and exciting exhibition programs in New York City.

Paul Morris, Founding Director of The Armory Show, notes that “The decision to focus on the Nordic Countries: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland, centered around a discussion about an important and thriving art community, yet one that is often under-represented as a region – and the Nordic region is just that. The extensive and overwhelming network of artists, curators, collectors, museums, and galleries attests to the Nordic’s international importance and we want Armory Focus to highlight the region’s contribution to the international art community."

This year, and for the first time, Armory Focus is curated by the esteemed Malmö Konsthall director, Jacob Fabricius. Fabricius will be integral in the selection of the galleries included in Armory Focus: The Nordic Countries in addition to tailoring the aesthetic look of the section. “Nordic or not, the artists and galleries that work in this region deserve our full attention and I am happy to be able to present them in New York and at The Armory Show as part of the focus on the Nordic Region."

The Armory Focus Curator: JACOB FABRICIUS

Jacob Fabricius has curated numerous exhibitions at the Malmö Konsthall since 2005 and was appointed director of this institution in 2008. As director, he initiated many innovative public exhibitions such as the hitchhiking exhibition Auto Stop and Polis Polis Potatismos. Before coming to the Malmö Konsthall, he worked as a freelance curator and associated curator at Centre d’Art Santa Monica, Barcelona. Fabricius has organized numerous exhibitions and public projects such as What is a guy from Leicester, a Swedish girl, a family father and a gay couple doing on a deserted island between Denmark and Sweden? (1997), Art Calls (1997), S-tog (1999), Rent-a-Bench (2002), Sandwiched (2003) and KBH Kunsthal (2005-06). Jacob Fabricius is also founder of the publishing company Pork Salad Press and the newspaper project Old News. He has published more than 50 books, records and CDs; most recently David Robbins’ Concrete Comedy. Jacob Fabricius lives in Copenhagen, DK and works in Malmö, SE.

March 7-11, 2012 

The 24th edition of The Art Show, the US foremost and longest running fine art fair, takes place March 7 through March 11, 2012 in New York City. Organized by the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) to benefit Henry Street Settlement, the fair presents the nation’s leading art dealers and galleries showcasing a variety of museum quality exhibits ranging from cutting-edge, 21st century works, to masterpieces from the 19th and 20th centuries. 

Expanding its roster for the first time in 24 years, the 2012 Art Show will include 72 of the best galleries from across the USA. ADAA also welcomes five first time exhibiting galleries: Alexander and Bonin, New York City; Crown Point Press, San Francisco, CA; Greene Naftali Gallery, New York City; Anton Kern Gallery, New York City; and Van de Weghe Fine Art, New York City. 

“ADAA dealers represent the very best authorities on fine art in the country, and The Art Show is an opportunity for collectors to meet with these experts and take in fantastic exhibitions in a range of genres,” noted ADAA President Lucy Mitchell-Innes.  Linda Blumberg, ADAA’s Executive Director remarked on the experience of collectors at the show, “Art collectors appreciate The Art Show because the intimate atmosphere and consistently high level of works present an ideal opportunity to interact with our expert dealers and purchase works in a refined environment.” 

The 2012 Art Show leads a contingent of art fairs around New York City such as The Armory Show, VOLTA, Pulse, RedDot, and SCOPE, which also take place during the same week.  Adam Sheffer, Chairman of The Art Show Committee, reflects, “As the city’s and the nation’s longest running art fair, The Art Show inspires New Yorkers and visitors alike to view and purchase exquisite works of art from the most exciting historical and contemporary artists.” 

The Art Show strikes a dynamic balance among its exhibitors, who come from all over the USA to present works by historic, modern, and contemporary artists. As in recent years, the 2012 Art Show will include a number of stand out solo and two person exhibitions, such as: Cindy Sherman’s “Murder Mystery” collage series from 1976 at Metro Pictures; new work by Suzan Frecon at David Zwirner Gallery; a two-person exhibition of David Wojnarowicz and Hunter Reynolds from P•P•O•W; Dorothea Rockburne at Greenberg Van Doren Gallery; a presentation of Rudy Burkhardt: Photographs and Films of New York from Tibor de Nagy Gallery; new work by Philip Pearlstein at Betty Cuningham Gallery; and “Gaston Lachaise / Louise Bourgeois: An Affinity” a two person installation from Cheim & Read. Other exhibition highlights include: a historic look at Acquavella Galleries, “Acquavella: The First 90 Years”; a group show of women artists at Galerie Lelong; and a thematic exhibition from Mary-Anne Martin/Fine Art entitled “Surrealism in Latin America.”

Daily admission to The Art Show from March 7th - 11th, and its Gala Preview on March 6th, 2012, benefits Henry Street Settlement, one of New York City’s best-known and most effective social services agencies. 

The Art Show will be held from Wednesday March 7, through Sunday, March 11, at the Park Avenue Armory at 67th Street City. Admission is $20 per day.  The show hours are as follows:  Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.
