A solo exhibition of French-Argentinean artist PABLO REINOSO, presented by Art Plural Gallery, Singapore, is on view in Macau through July 14, 2013. The exhibition of Pablo Reinoso titled Living Sculptures features eleven artworks which are displayed in One Central and Mandarin Oriental in Macau. It was part of the 2013 edition of Le French May (celebrating French arts and culture) in Hong Kong and Macau which took place from April 17 to June 22, 2013. One of the largest French arts festivals in Asia, Le French May has been held annually in Hong Kong and Macau for more than 20 years.
This year, French-Argentinean artist Pablo Reinoso has been invited to present his latest sculptures in Macau. Originally a renowned designer but essentially an artist, Pablo Reinoso has practiced art in various ways since an early age. Multifaceted and curious, he navigates through different disciplines; sculpture, photography, architecture and design, exploring a myriad of techniques and materials. With his sculptural creations, he tests the limits of possibility by using objects against their grain, uniting opposites and mixing-up materials such as wood, slate, brass, marble and steel.
Pablo Reinoso focuses his search on the entity, its transference, and the unconscious, using space and time as an environment. A culmination of the artist’s discoveries brought him to use other materials such as air. This medium enabled the energy to flow in all dimensions of his self-orientated link between art history and psychoanalysis. Today, the material object in Reinoso's work is just a vector to convey his inspiration and thought. The actual study of functionality leads to the inner dialogue between art and design, which transcends into the outer object itself. This is illustrated through the mutation of mirrors, chairs, benches and garments along with the chaos of the unknown using our five senses.
PABLO REINOSO SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Pablo Reinoso was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1955. He studied architecture at the University of Buenos Aires. Throughout his life, Pablo Reinoso conducted his exploration in a Yin-Yang manner. On one side, his portfolio features numerous design projects for the packaging, furniture, interiors and luxury consumer goods world and on the other, the endless quest of the intangible boundaries of the soul through art, and think tanks.
In the 90’s, Pablo Reinoso created monumental sculptures, some of which initiated the establishment of landmark installations. Pablo Reinoso's international reputation shines, as his rich array of pieces and their depth blazes the trail for a new dimension of art/design.
Art Plural Gallery devoted a solo exhibition to the artist in Singapore from January to March 2012. Pablo Reinoso's sculptures were featured in international exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale and Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial, Japan. Public collections around the world include: Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo; Mamba, Buenos Aires; Macro, Rosario; Société des Amis du MNAM; Fonds National d’Art Contemporain, Paris, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
