Canon EOS 5DS & 5DS R DSLR Features

Canon EOS 5DS & 5DS R DSLR Features

Canon EOS 5Ds
Canon EOS 5Ds

Canon EOS 5Ds R
Canon EOS 5DsR

Setting a new benchmark for full-frame cameras, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R combine fast, instinctive DSLR handling with the newly-developed 50.6 MP CMOS sensor, providing the flexibility to shoot a wide range of scenes and subjects, making it ideal for large format mediums, such as advertising billboards and magazine covers, where every pixel matters. The sensor’s advanced architecture provides ISO 100-6400 sensitivity, expandable to 50-12800, ensuring high quality images with low noise, accurate colours and wide dynamic range. For added flexibility, the cameras’ resolution enables three new in-camera crop shooting modes – 1.3x, 1.6x and 1:1. Visible through the viewfinder, the crop modes deliver outstanding results, with stills at 19 MP even when cropped to 1.6x.

Built to withstand the most demanding shoots, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R’s dual DIGIC 6 processors provide the rapid performance and responsiveness required to deliver first-class images with exceptional colour reproduction. Both processors are designed to comfortably manage huge levels of image data from the 50.6 MP sensor, whilst simultaneously reducing image noise and providing the freedom to shoot at five frames per second.

Created to ensure every detail of your exquisite landscape or high-fashion studio shoot is in focus, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R feature an advanced 61-point AF system, with 41 cross-type points, delivering incredible levels of image sharpness and accuracy across the frame. Both cameras comfortably maintain focus with moving subjects, using EOS Intelligent Tracking and Recognition AF (iTR) to track both faces and colour. To reduce image blur, Canon’s Mirror Vibration Control System uses cams to drive the cameras’ mirror up and down in a highly controlled fashion, avoiding all sudden stops and softening the shutter-release sound.

Additionally, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R’s 150k pixel RGB+IR metering sensor with Flicker Detection ensures images can be captured with consistent and accurate exposures under varying lighting scenarios, including florescent.

Putting unrivalled image quality at your fingertips, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R include a number of customisable modes and settings to ensure stunning results every time. A new Fine Detail Picture Style maximises the level of detail that can be achieved from the sensor, enabling advanced sharpness adjustment without the need for editing software.

Popular creative modes, including Multiple Exposure and HDR, provide instant, in-camera creativity, while a built-in timer allows you to shoot over long periods and create stunning time lapse videos, without being tied to the camera or needing advanced software and excessive kit.

The EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R have been expertly constructed to allow you to operate quickly, regardless of the environment you’re shooting in. The 100% viewfinder with electronic overlay makes framing vital shots easy and can be customised to your preferred style. The large, 8.11cm (3.2”) Clear View II LCD screen, with an anti-reflective structure, minimises reflection or glare when reviewing shots and also acts as a visual and accessible dashboard of the most commonly used settings. The cameras’ new Custom Quick Control screen means that the type, size and position of icons are also easily customisable to the user or shooting scenario.

Both cameras utilise Canon’s iconic design DNA – a highly durable body constructed from high-grade magnesium alloy to provide weather resilient shooting – ideal for landscape photographers who are dedicated to getting the perfect shot, whatever the weather.

When nothing but the absolute maximum level of detail possible will do, the EOS 5DS R features a low pass cancellation filter to ensure the sharpest possible results. Great for landscape photographers, where patterns are organic, the camera’s low pass cancellation filter produces the stunning level of detail required to turn a great shot into an incredible shot.

The EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R are compatible with Canon’s extensive EF lens range.

Olympus OM-2000 35mm SLR camera - Features & Specifications

Olympus OM-2000 35mm SLR camera

The convenience of an automated camera does not always leave room for individual expression. Those who look for creative freedom will find the new OM2000 a perfect companion to discover the joys of artistry and personal satisfaction full manual photography can bring. The OM2000 brings the quality and flexibility of SLR performance within affordable reach.

Full Manual Control SLR
Elegant, affordable, simple, yet uncompromising in quality, the OM2000 is a rugged, mechanical-shutter, 35mm SLR that continues the Olympus OM-system series tradition of putting the photographer's judgment first. The OM2000 provides total manual control over all the variables: aperture, shutter speed and focus. In the hands of a creative student or serious photographer the OM2000's mechanical excellence, aided by a precision Olympus Zuiko lens, can faithfully capture images on film just as the photographer conceived them.

Professional Look and Feel
The sturdy qualities of this camera start with the professional feel of its robust, die-cast aluminum body, with the top and bottom finished in a very durable ternary-compound alloy made of nickel, copper and zinc. Its inner beauty resides in the all-metal, precision focal plane shutter assembly. Covering the range from 1 second to 1/2000 second, the OM2000's mechanical shutter is always ready since it does not require battery power.

There is also a bulb setting and cable release for extended exposures in low light and even capturing the night sky.

Precise Exposure Control
Light is one of the most critical factors in photography, and accurate measurement of light is critical in determining exposure values. The manual OM2000 SLR features both spot metering and center-weighted average metering. With two systems available, a photographer can pick the appropriate one for a wide range of lighting conditions, including difficult backlit scenes. The choice also offers the freedom of creating striking effects with any combination of lens aperture and shutter speed. Switching between the two exposure systems is a simple matter of moving a lever.

Red and green LED indicators in the viewfinder verify battery condition and make it easy to set exposure value correctly. Pressing the spot metering selector on the OM2000 causes an orange LED to show in the viewfinder and makes a precise reading of light in the spot circle—the central 2% of the frame.

The viewfinder of the OM2000 uses a microprism split-image matter focusing screen. In addition to making it easier to see subjects and frame shots, the screen offers exceptional clarity and contrast. An optional dioptric lens offers -3 to +1 diopters of correction, to assure all photographers of optimum viewfinder image sharpness.

Compatible with OM System Lenses
Central to all creative decisions is the choice of which lens to use. The OM2000 uses interchangeable Zuiko lenses. These fit securely to the sturdy, metal OM mount and can be changed quickly. The compact, lightweight S Zuiko 35-70mm f3.5-4.8 lens comes with the OM2000 kit. A compact alternative is one Zuiko 70-210mm f4.5-5.6 one-touch zoom lens that makes telephoto shooting easy.

Olympus Zuiko lenses are equipped with a preview button. Accurate results are simplified by the preview function. When the preview button, which is located on the side of the lens, is pressed the current aperture is set so the depth of field can be checked in the viewfinder.

An OM2000 body is a welcome addition for owners of other OM camera models since the OM2000 accepts most OM system lenses.

Flash Photography Options
For flash photography, the OM2000 offers X-synchronization at any shutter speed up to 1/125 of a second. An optional Olympus S20 slim-line electronic flash unit boasts a guide number of 66 (ISO 100/ft), 20 (IS) 100/m), and offers auto flash performance at f2.8 and F5.6. It also comes with a wide adapter that provides flash coverage up to 24mm wide-angle shots.

Other Features
The OM2000 accommodates a wide variety of film types and speeds from ISO 25 to ISO 3200, with film speeds manually selected in 1/3 step increments. Film advance is by a convenient lever that also locks the shutter button between film-frame advances.

Interesting and unusual multiple exposures of two or more images on a single frame can also be made, if desired. Simply set the multi-exposure lever to the ON position, and you can cock the shutter without advancing the film. A self-timer is also included, providing up to about 10 seconds of shutter-trip delay.

Suggested list price of the OM2000 is $418.00

Canon Speedlite 550EX Flash and Wireless Transmitter ST-E2 specifications

Canon Speedlite 550EX is the main component of a new flash system designed together with the EOS-3 SLR camera. It provides full compatibility with the new area AF technology employed by the EOS-3 and refined E-TTL autoflash for improved performance. Other main features include a maximum Guide Number of 180 (ISO 100, ft.), an AF-assist beam which links to the EOS-3's 45-point area AF, FP Flash (high speed sync), FE lock (a flash version of AE lock), and FEB (Flash Exposure Bracketing). The Speedlite 550EX also incorporates a built-in wireless transmitter, which can control other Speedlite 550EX units set up as slave units. Flash coverage is set automatically from 24mm to 105mm, and a wide-angle panel extends the coverage to 17mm. The new Speedlite runs on 4 AA-size batteries, and can also be used with optional external power supplies such as Compact Battery Pack E and Transistor Pack E. Recycling times are similar to those experienced with the Speedlite 540EZ. Speedlite 550EX is compatible with all EOS models.

The most impressive feature of the 550EX, however, is its ability to support a wireless multiple flash system which allows photographers to set up unlimited numbers of additional Speedlite 550EX flashes as slave units while controlling their flash output from the camera position. Even when using multiple Speedlites, photographers can utilize all of the 550EX's advanced features including E-TTL, FP flash, FE lock and Flash Exposure Bracketing (FEB).

All 550EX controls are located on the rear of the unit, including a Master/Slave switch, indicating whether the flash will be used as a Master (on the camera's hot shoe) or as a remote Slave. The remote flash system permits photographers to set up as many as three groups (designated A, B or C) of 550EX Speedlites set up as slave units with virtually unlimited numbers of flash units possible within each group.

When using the EOS-3 with multiple Speedlite 550EX flash units, or when shooting with E-TTL wireless autoflash using the Speedlite 550EX in conjunction with the wireless Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2, the output ratio of two different slave groups can be set on the master unit. The A:B flash ratio can be set to any of thirteen half-step increments ranging from 8:1 to 1:8. Flash exposure compensation for slave group C can be set on the master unit in 1/3 or 1/2 stop increments up to +/- 3 stops. This is ideal for background or accent lighting when shooting portraits in a studio setting, for example. Power output for each Slave unit can be controlled directly from the Master flash or Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2, eliminating the need to adjust each Slave unit from its remote location. In addition, the system offers a "modeling lamp" function which gives photographers a good idea of how lighting will fall on the subject. The wireless remote flash system has a range of approximately 35 feet when used outdoors and approximately 50 feet indoors. Each slave unit, when signalled by a test flash from the Master Unit, indicates its readiness in ascending order according to its assigned group, giving photographers the ability to verify that the slave units are within range and functioning properly. An LED indicator on the back of the Master Unit acts as a flash exposure confirmation signal, and is fully effective even in wireless multiple flash setups.

Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2

Canon's wireless Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 is ideal for use by photographers who do not need to have any light source emanating directly from the camera position, but wish to utilize the system's remote flash capabilities. Mounted on the hot shoe of the camera, the wireless transmitter serves as the Master, controlling the functions of up to two groups of 550EX Slave units. Like the 550EX, the ST-E2 also has a built-in AF-assist beam which is linked to the EOS-3's area AF.

The new Canon Speedlite 550EX flash and Wireless Transmitter ST-E2 will be available in USA at Canon authorized camera dealers in early December.
