The Steadicam Scout incorporates the same Steadicam features that won the DV Professional Association’s “Best of Show” at NAB but with a new design offering new features. The Steadicam Scout with a 5lb-18lb (2.3-8kg) camera payload capacity incorporates a soft case with pouch for trolley and will sell for $6995.
The Scout features a newly designed sled assembly (camera mounting platform) that has a carbon fiber no-tools extendable post. A safety system inside the post protects the post from separating. The index system keeps all parts in alignment. A proprietary friction-free gimbal assembly with large knurled extended handle fits securely in the operator's hand. Precision stage adjustment assures exacting balance of the camera to the rig. The sled will work with 12 volt cameras.
The Scout vest is a continuation of the Flyer vest: an ergonomic fit of the breast plate combined with metal shoulder fasteners. New vest and pad covers are easily removed for cleaning or replacement offering extended durability.
The new tools-free patented Iso-Elastic stabilizer arm supports 18 pounds (8kg) of camera weight. The no-tools Arm/Vest interface allows for quick customization to the individual operator. “On the fly” weight adjustment frees the operator from dismounting the system to make changes. The Scout's adjustable and interchangeable arm post assembly is a feature usually found on more expensive systems. The 2-section arm can also be separated for compact storage and transport.
The new 7" Scout Steadicam color LCD monitor features enhanced image quality and a wide viewing angle.
The Scout light weight aluminum dovetail stage was designed for camera mounting stability.
