Lawrence Weiner – Dvir Gallery, Hangar 2, Jaffa Port, Israel

Lawrence Weiner
Dvir Gallery, Hangar 2, Jaffa Port
December 19, 2009 - February 13, 2010

LAWRENCE WEINER was born in 1942, New- York.
He has been a central figure in the field of Conceptual art since the 1960.
His work is characterized with texts and is as revolutionary today as it has been before.
This fact was recently confirmed by the retrospective exhibition As far as the eye can see at the Whitney Museum of Contemporary Art, New-York, later at the Museum of Contemporary Art, LA and finally at K21 Düsseldorf .

New works created for the new space of Dvir Gallery - Hangar 2, Jaffa Port are on view.
Weiner continues his fascination/focus relation to Israel/Tel-Aviv-Jaffa by combining the three languages: Hebrew, Arabic and English.

Lawrence Weiner: "The picture-frame convention was a very real thing. The painting stopped at the edge. When you are dealing with language, there is no edge that the picture drops over or drops of. You are dealing with something completely infinite. Language, because it is the most non-objective thing we have ever developed in this world, never stops".
