Meta Biennale 2021 in Art Gate VR
November 18 — December 19 2021
Art Gate VR announces the Meta Biennale: The first of its kind, the Meta Biennale will take place in a virtual metaverse. Inviting public and private galleries, art institutions, independent artists and artist collectives to participate, the Meta Biennale will be presented in the interconnected gallery spaces located in virtual reality on the platform Art Gate .
Art Gate is on a mission to make the arts more accessible. Launched in 2018, it offers customizable gallery spaces for exhibitions taking place in a fully interactive, social virtual reality (VR) art market. Art Gate presents a new way for artists, aficionados, galleries, dealers, and collectors to discover, buy, and sell art internationally; through a VR headset or simply with their computer (PC/Mac). Regardless of physical location, art can be shared with visitors around the world, who can meet up together in the virtual environment.
The Meta Biennale is centered on the idea of the Metaverse— where virtual worlds expand to become mainstream hubs for social interaction, exchange and entertainment. The Metaverse is our evolution beyond globalism as we move into a climate-concerned, virtually interconnected world. The Meta Biennale invites contributions that confront futuristic visions of technologies head-on - holographic, virtual, motion captured, live-streamed and augmented. Understanding that most humans will participate in virtual worlds and how social media impacts society, the Meta Biennale reflects on our transition to metaverses as a merging of gaming and socializing that connects new models of virtual worlds directly to our physical existence, instead of isolating from it. The Meta Biennale invites projects and exhibitions that are centered on reflections that lean into our interconnected futures - let’s bring our ideas and minds together to decide how it will evolve.
The Art Gate VR community, vibrant and growing rapidly, includes private galleries, art institutions and universities, curators, artists, art dealers and collectors who have been hosting events, facilitating art deals virtually and connecting people from around the world. The Meta Biennale follows on the heels of two successful editions of our virtual art fair - Art Gate International (AGI) in April 2020, and 2021. During AGI 2021, 40 artists, curators, art dealers and art collectors showcased their work to a record-breaking attendance from visitors around the world. The Art Gate virtual reality metaverse offers immense opportunities for the art market to expand, with galleries now able to access international audiences in real-time meaningful interactions. All the exhibitions are always open to the public for free.
