DARIA WERBOWY is one of the seven models of the 2009 edition of the Pirelli Calendar. She hails from Toronto, Canada, though her family is of Ukrainian descent. In the time that Daria Werbowy has been modeling, she has taken the fashion world by storm, and her name is at the top of everyone’s list. She is ranked by Models.com as the number one model of their top 50 for several consecutive years.
Daria Werbowy’s big break came when fashion photographer Steven Meisel fell in love with her classic beauty, and booked her exclusively for the Fall/Winter 2003 Prada campaign. She then repeated another season in Spring/Summer 2004. Daria Werbowy then starred in Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2004 campaign, and Spring/Summer 2005 ads for Chanel, David Yurman & Missoni. She was then featured in Fall/Winter 2005 ads for Yves Saint Laurent, another season of Chanel, and as one of new faces of Gloria Vanderbilt. In 2005, Daria Werbowy signed a multi-year global contract to represent Lancôme in advertisements for television and cinema, as well as commercial print. She is the face of the brands’ newest fragrance, Hypnôse. Daria Werbowy currently stars in the advertisement campaigns for Valentino, H&M, Hermes, Missoni, and Lancôme.
In her first international show season, Daria Werbowy walked down an amazing 30 runways for top designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, John Galliano, Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Versace, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Mui Mui, and of course, Prada.
Daria Werbowy consistently works with the industries most noted photographers, Steven Meisel, Mario Testino, Peter Lindbergh, Karl Lagerfeld, Juergen Teller, David Sims, Mario Sorrenti, Craig Mcdean, Patrick Demarchelier, Mikael Jansson, Nathaniel Goldberg, Greg Kadel, Bruce Weber, Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodth Matidan and Mert & Marcus, to name a few. She has even had the opportunity to work with the late legendary icon, Helmut Newton.
Top fashion magazines such as Vogue (American, Italian, British, French, & Japanese), Harper’s Bazaar, W, Numero, V, and PoP all feature Daria on a regular basis. She has appeared on the covers of Numero, V, W, GQ and an astonishing total of six covers for Italian Vogue. Daria Werbowy was featured on the September 2004 cover of American Vogue, where she was profiled as one of the leading faces of “the Return of the Super Model”. She was also the cover star of French Vogue’s “Top Models” March 2005 issue, as well as the cover of i-D’s 25th anniversary special Sept 2005 issue.
